Buy the tickets from the machine at the Täsch station. (one ticket Täsch/ Gornergrat/Täsch and you can stop off in Zermatt to walk around the village on the way up or down). In fact buying tickets ahead of time for mountain trips is risky. if the weather is poor you won't get any views. Far better to buy them on the day you go up.
